Dave Laughlin has spent over 15 years as a mental game professional within sport. He is currently the director of assessment and skill acquisition for Courtex Performance, where he helps athletes, coaches, and organizations perform to their potential more consistently. In his role with Courtex, Dave has worked with clients in the MLB, NBA, OLY, and NCAA. His specialties include athlete profiling, mental skills training, and practice design to improve learning and performance. He has assisted several NBA organizations (e.g., Milwaukee Bucks, Utah Jazz, Miami Heat, Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers) with pre-draft athlete evaluation, and has also provided profiling support to Under Armour for its sponsored athletes. In addition to his work with Courtex, Dave recently started chordinnate, a company that helps athletes use music to enhance performance, explore meaning in sport, and increase enjoyment. 


Dave has a phd in sport psychology and motor behavior from the University of Tennessee and spent a decade as a university professor prior to his current roles. He was an assistant professor of sport studies at Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Alabama) from 2012 to 2015 and an assistant/associate professor of exercise science at Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan) from 2015 to 2021. Dave is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, but he now lives in Freeville, New York, where he delivers services remotely through Courtex and chordinnate. He also continues to provide remote instruction in motor behavior for Grand Valley State University. 


Prior to his work within the field of mental performance, he played college baseball at William Jewell College (Liberty, Missouri) and coached baseball at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels.
